Steel pipe painting
Advanced technologies for long-lasting protection
Acciaitubi has three fully-automated painting plants.
In detail, the company operates with two dedicated lines for epoxy painting and a specific line for water-based painting, guaranteeing high standards of uniformity, resistance and aesthetic quality, even for high production volumes.

Uses for painted tubes and pipes
Versatile solutions for any application
Painted Acciaitubi tubes and pipes are used in numerous civil and industrial fields, where the colour allows for rapid identification of the transported fluid.
We process welded and seamless tubing for water, gas and firefighting or sprinkler systems, with smooth or knurled ends according to the Victaulic standard.
Thanks to the versatility of the equipment, we can paint in any RAL colour with epoxy or water-based technologies and can apply customised colours and markings, ensuring traceability and full compliance with customer requirements.
Tailor-made technology and performance for every application need
Acciaitubi has automated plants for the continuous painting of steel tubes, with a range of different solutions available to satisfy strength, finish and durability requirements.
The technologies used include water-based, epoxy and polyester coatings, all preceded by a thorough sandblasting of the surface.
Customised markings can even be applied on request to ensure traceability and immediate product recognition.

Water-based painting
- Finish: Single-component, odourless varnish with an average thickness of 30–70 μm.
This offers good mechanical resistance, protection against oxidation and excellent finishing properties.
Standard Colours: RAL 3000, RAL 3009, RAL 3011. - Primer: Single-component, odourless paint with an average thickness of 15–30 μm.
Ideal as an initial protective layer, with good sandability and an excellent base for subsequent finishes.
Standard Colours: RAL 3009, RAL 3011.
Epoxy-based coating
- Application of powders fused to the sandblasted surface and heating to 200–220 °C
- Typical thickness: 80–140 μm; Gloss: 75–85
- Excellent finishing properties, top-rate adhesion, certified abrasion and corrosion resistance
- Standard Colours: RAL 3000, RAL 3009, RAL 3011, RAL 7012, RAL 9010
All of our epoxy-coated pipes and tubes have been certified for corrosion resistance in Class C5, according to UNI EN ISO 12944-6, proving their suitability in highly-aggressive environments.

Polyester powder coating
- Powders fused on sandblasted tube, with a thickness of 80–140 μm
- Offers superior UV resistance, ideal for outdoor applications and high sun exposure
- Standard Colours: RAL 3000, with other colours on request
| Type | Description | Thickness | Properties | RAL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Water-based primer | Odourless, water-based, single-component paint applied after sandblasting | 15–30 μm | Initial protective layer, good sandability and ideal for further processing or finishing | RAL 3009 | RAL 3011 |
| Water-based paint | Odourless, water-based, single-component paint applied after sandblasting | 30–70 μm | Good mechanical and corrosion resistance of the underlying metal, good aesthetic properties | RAL 3000 | RAL 3009 | RAL 3011 |
| Epoxy paint | Dust fused onto the tube surface after sandblasting | 80–140 μm | Excellent aesthetic properties, high adhesion and abrasion resistance. Good corrosion resistance | RAL 3000 | RAL 3009 | RAL 3011 | RAL 7012 RAL 9010 |
| Polyester paint | Dust fused onto the tube surface after sandblasting | 80–140 μm | Increased UV resistance | RAL 3000 |
EPD certification
